Rising Damp Treatment Benalmádena

Rising damp not only has the capacity to aesthetically deteriorate the interior and exterior walls of a building but, if the damp progresses uncontrolled, it can also endanger the integrity of the building.

This dampness rises through the walls from the subsoil, penetrating the building material, damaging it and the paint layer, causing chipping and more dangerous damage.

It is a completely natural occurrence and is common in many homes, which is why it must be prevented.

In proPERLA® we carry out a service that we have already applied in many establishments and properties in Benalmádena and it has worked very well. We explain how it works.

What is rising damp and how to solve it

Rising damp makes no distinction. It affects the ground floors of all kinds of buildings: country houses, luxury villas, garages, basements, etc. If you live on the first floor, it will not affect you.

The damp comes from the subsoil and rises 10-13 centimetres up the walls and enters the building materials. If the materials are porous, the damage will be worse. For example, brick is a porous material.

Rising damp is even more dangerous because it carries with it mineral salts from the soil and accelerates the destructive effect.

The consequences are very obvious:

  • Deterioration of plaster.
  • Deterioration of wallpaper.
  • Deterioration of the paint layer (e.g. chipping, etc.).

The solution is to prevent this problem.

What does the treatment consist of?

What does our treatment against for rising damp in Benalmádena consist of?

The solution is to stop the rise in humidity. Our product “Damp-Proof Course” does this best.

It is a special cream that is injected into the wall to create a protective membrane that spreads horizontally and prevents damp from rising.

This method is preventative, so if the damp has been there before, the wall must first be chipped, the injections made and the affected façade rehabilitated.

The treatment involves making small perforations at ground level in the wall and injecting the cream. The cream expands inside the bricks (or other materials) forming the barrier that prevents water from rising.
