Rising damp treatment Costa del Sol

Rising damp affects any building that is at ground level: luxury villas or country houses on the Costa del Sol, etc., but also the basements of detached houses or garages.

Damage can be reflected both on the outside and inside of the building.

Rising damp is characterised by the fact that it originates from the subsoil. This damp rises up the wall and penetrates the building materials, damaging them and endangering the integrity of the building.

However, there is a solution to this dampness and it can also be prevented. Our product proPERLA® Damp-Proof Course is proof of this.

Here you can see how to repair the damage already suffered and how to prevent it. This is a service we provide on the Costa del Sol.

What is rising damp and how to treat it

Rising damp, as it is also known, affects any building without distinction, as it comes from the ground on which it is built.

It affects the ground floors and its destructive potential is even greater in constructions made of porous materials, such as brick, because the damp contains mineral salts and enters more easily into these.

The damage is very visible (deterioration of paint, wallpaper, plaster, etc.) and very costly to repair.

The cheapest and most effective solution? Prevention.

What does the treatment consist of?

What is the best treatment to prevent the usual rising damp on the Costa del Sol?

The best way to prevent rising damp involves drilling small holes in the wall and injecting a special cream that spreads through the wall and creates a horizontal barrier, which stops moisture from rising from the subfloor.

It is important to note that this treatment works as prevention.

In other words, if the wall has problems with rising damp, the injections should be carried out and then the affected area rehabilitated.

This is a service that we have carried out on countless occasions all over the Costa del Sol.

Explanation of our treatment against rising damp

Once you contact us with your problem, we will select a trusted local company from our network of applicators to contact you and make a visit to your property.

Once there, they will carry out an initial inspection of the wall to see what damage has occurred and how best to repair it and prevent it from happening again.

The procedure, as a general rule, includes the following steps:

  1. Small holes are drilled in the wall and damp-proofing cream is injected.
  2. The holes are filled with a water-repellent mortar.
  3. The wall is repainted with our water-repellent paint in the original colour.

When the work is finished (in which we will leave everything clean and on time), the wall has a protective barrier inside that prevents damp from rising and also all the flaws in the wall have been repaired.

Whether on interior or exterior walls, damp-proofing injections are the most effective solution to rising damp on the Costa del Sol.
