Rising damp treatment Estepona

Rising damp is a phenomenon with serious consequences in many properties, because it causes the progressive deterioration of the interior and exterior walls and, on certain occasions, can affect the integrity of the building.

This damp comes from the ground and rises through the wall, penetrating the building materials and the paint layer and damaging them.

To prevent rising damp problems, at proPERLA® we have a special treatment that protects your property and which we have carried out on many occasions in Estepona.

We show you how it works.

What is rising damp and how to treat it

Rising damp mainly affects the ground floors of buildings, i.e. garages, basements, detached houses, etc.

If building materials are very porous, such as bricks and mortars, dampness enters the wall more easily. In addition, moisture from the ground carries mineral salts that accelerate the destructive effect.

The consequences: deterioration of paint, plaster, wallpaper, etc. Repair costs can be very expensive, so it is worth investing in a preventive solution.

At proPERLA®, our applicators are always available to inspect your property and proffer the best solution to the issue.

What does the treatment consist of?

What is the best treatment for rising damp in Estepona?

The treatment we always recommend is cream injections into the wall.

This cream spreads throughout the wall and penetrates the building materials, creating a protective membrane.

The treatment serves to prevent the damp problem. However, if the façade has already been affected by damp, after the injections have been carried out, the affected façade must be rehabilitated.

The injections are inserted into small holes made at ground level and form a barrier that prevents water from rising.

This video explains how our treatment against rising damp works.

How do we fix rising damp?

Our official network of applicators will contact you and arrange a visit to your property in Estepona to ascertain the extent of the damage and provide you with a no obligation quotation.

Once accepted, a thorough study is made of the property to find out how to undertake the work, although normally the treatment involves the following steps:

  1. Holes are drilled in the wall and the damp-proof barrier is injected.
  2. The holes are plastered with a water-repellent mortar.
  3. The façade is painted with our water-repellent paint, respecting the colour of the façade.

The result is a building protected against rising damp and with no aesthetic signs of damp.
