Rising damp can aesthetically deteriorate the façade of any property in a short time.
However, the consequences can be even worse because, on certain occasions, if the dampness advances uncontrolled, it could endanger the integrity of the building.
This damp comes from the subsoil, which rises through the wall and penetrates the masonry, damaging the paint coating and building materials, causing damage and spalling.
However, rising damp can be prevented. At proPERLA® we have managed to stop it in many buildings in Sotogrande. Do you want to know how it works?
Rising damp is quite common and affects properties that are built on sites with high subsoil moisture.
This damp naturally tends to rise upwards and reaches the property through the wall and penetrates the building materials. If the material is very porous, e.g. brick, the damage is even greater.
Likewise, rising damp has the peculiarity that it is more dangerous than other types of damp because it contains mineral salts from the soil and increases its destructive effect.
The deterioration it causes is such that it can be very costly to repair, which is why it is better to prevent it.
At proPERLA®, our applicators are always available to inspect your property and proffer the best solution to the issue.
What does the treatment consist of?
To prevent rising damp problems, proPERLA® has a special treatment that consists of injecting cream into the wall to create a protective membrane.
The treatment prevents the problem of rising damp. However, if the problem exists before, the façade has to be chipped, the damp has to dry out, the injections have to be made, and then a mortar has to be re-applied and painted.
To make the injections, small holes must first be drilled in the wall at ground level. When the cream is injected, it spreads through the building materials to form a horizontal barrier that prevents water from rising.
This video explains better how the treatment against rising damp works.
The solution to rising damp is to follow the following steps in detail:
From this moment on, the wall is protected against rising damp and there are no signs of deterioration on the façade.
Injections are the best solution to prevent rising damp, before it affects exterior and interior walls.
Injections are the most reliable solution to stop rising damp in interior and exterior walls.
