Rising Damp Treatment Marbella

Rising damp does not only damage the exterior and interior walls of a building aesthetically. If not treated in time, it can endanger the integrity of the building.

Rising damp rises up through the wall from the ground, penetrating the building materials, damaging them and deteriorating the paint coating, causing flaking and other damage.

It is very common in many homes and is completely natural, so you must be prepared for it.

Because of this, in proPERLA® we have a product that we have already applied in many houses in Marbella and it has worked very well. We explain you what it consists of.

What is rising damp and how to treat it

Rising damp normally affects basements, garages, ground floors or country houses, so if you live in a flat in Marbella, it will not affect you.

It is moisture that comes from the ground and rises through the walls until it enters the building materials.

If the materials are porous, the damage is greater. An example of a porous material is brick or mortar.

Rising damp is very dangerous because it carries mineral salts from the soil and accelerates the destructive effect.

Damage that can be caused by rising damp:

  • Deterioration of the plaster.
  • Deterioration of the paint layer (such as chipping, etc.).
  • Deterioration of wallpaper.

What does the treatment consist of?

What is the best treatment for rising damp in Marbella?

Our solution is to stop the rising damp. How do we do it? Our applicators use our product “Damp Proof Course”.

This is a special cream that is injected into the wall to create a horizontal protective membrane. This prevents dampness from rising.

It works as a preventive method.

However, if the problem already exists, the proPERLA® DPC injections should be carried out first (to prevent this from happening again) and then the façade is rehabilitated to make it as good as new.

This video explains how our rising damp treatment works.

How do we fix rising damp?

Our applicators visit the affected property in Marbella and start the action protocol marked by proPERLA®, which consists of the following:

  1. Inspection of the affected walls to ascertain the extent of the damage and the path to follow in order to make the repairs.
  2. Carrying out the perforations in the wall.
  3. Injection of our DPC Cream into these holes.
  4. Plastering the holes with a water-repellent mortar.
  5. Painting the façade with our Water-repellent paint (respecting the original colour).

After all this, your home is protected against rising damp and the façade looks perfect.
