proPERLA® Water Repellent

Protect your roof while preserving the natural appearance its tiles

proPERLA® Water Repellent is the fastest growing exterior coating system in Europe, the result of combining years of experience and the latest technology to protect your tiles from the effects of water.

Breathability

When we apply proPERLA®, the coated tiles become breathable and permeable to water vapour. This means that moisture won’t get trapped within the tiles and is released into the air without difficulty.

Just 5% of moisture trapped in the tiles can reduce the roof’s thermal resistance to weather effects by up to 50%.

Super-Hydrophobic

Applying proPERLA® achieves that, when rain falls on the tiles, they won’t get wet. The rain drops of water will settle on the surface of the tiles or slide off until they fall into the gutters or the ground. This way, the tiles remain dry and free of moisture.

Therefore, your roof will be free from frost damage and extremely resistant to all kinds of biological hazards (mould, moss, microbial spores, lichen, etc.).

Self-cleaning

Like with water, when you apply proPERLA®, dirt is also not able to adhere to the tiles. It stays on the surface, but does not penetrate into the porous material.

This means that the rain washes off the superficial dirt off the tiles won’t show signs of deterioration in the long term. This saves you having to clean them yourself.

Resistant to adverse weather conditions

Tiles, regardless of the orientation and location of the house, are always exposed to bad weather (sea salt, sun, high humidity, acid rain, etc.). Thanks to proPERLA®, they will be protected and will retain their original colour for years.

Roof tiles with a 10 year protection guarantee

The lifespan of proPERLA® Water Repellent is guaranteed for at least 10 years. However, in our experience applying this product, we have observed how tiles treated with proPERLA® continue to be in perfect condition even 25 years later. This is a huge maintenance and repair cost savings for the owner.

Wet roof tiles = Thermal bridges

A breathable surface enhances its insulation properties.

Only 5% of humidity accumulated in roof tiles favours heat loss by 50%.

Applying a waterproofing agent on the tiles which allows them to be breathable, means they won’t accumulate moisture and won’t suffer any damage, and it will allow you to maintain a comfortable temperature inside your home.

FAQ: Water Repellent

proPERLA® Water Repellent has been designed to be highly breathable and ensure that it does not interfere with the tile’s natural ability to “breathe”.

Water vapor permeability tests were carried out in accordance with BS EN ISO 7783:2011 and showed that the coating had little effect on water vapor diffusion.

proPERLA® coatings allow water molecules to pass through and be released into the air, preventing any moisture accumulation.

“Breathability” is a term used in the construction industry to describe how well a surface allows water and air molecules to pass through them. Breathability indices are identified by an “SD” value.

proPERLA Water Repellent has an SD value of 0.00, indicating that the product is at the higher end of breathability indices. This means that it is 100% breathable.

Yes, the product adheres to the tile and prevents further damage or breakage.

The product comes ready to use and to be directly applied from the container on to the tiles.

No, one coat is enough for the product to have its effect.

Over time, the pearlescent effect of the product diminishes, but it will not affect the protection of your surfaces at all.

It may be the case that the water repellent effect is reduced, but the tiles are still protected.

The pearl effect can be seen day after it’s applied, but 100% of the product’s benefits will appear after 7 days.

In that case, you can wet the surface with a hose, but at low pressure. Do not rub the surface or apply pressurized water.

None of our products affect the slipperiness of the surface. The products are not film-forming, they chemically penetrate the surface. Therefore, if you apply the product on the roof, the slipperiness will depend on how slippery the roof is before, but our product does not affect the slipperiness before or after.
